BEVERLY HILLS, April 24, (THEWILL) – The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi ll, has denied the claim in some quarters that he squandered N6bn from the coffers of the Kano Emirate Council.
At a press conference in Kano Monday, the senior council official in charge of finance, who is also the Waling Kano, Bashir Wail, told reporters that the emirate has only spent N4.314billion since Lamido emerged emir in June 2014.
Wail, who provided some details of the expenditure, also explained that Emir Sanusi inherited N1.9 billion from the late emir of Kano, Dr. Ado Bayer (exactly N1.893, 378.927.38) and not N4 billion as stated in some media reports.
He narrated that every travel made by the emir was done with his own money and the two Royce royal cars in his fleet were given to him by some of his friends.
The emir is presently under investigation by authorities for allegedly mismanaging emirate funds.
