February 17, (THEWILL) – Security operatives including officials of the Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, and Lagos State Task Force, have taken over the State House of Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja.
According to reports, the operatives have sealed the offices of Speaker Mojisola Meranda, her deputy, and the clerk of the House.
THEWILL reports that the development may not be unconnected with the leadership crisis rocking the Assembly
Meranda was elected as the first female speaker of the Lagos legislature on January 13, 2025, following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa.
However, Obasa has filed a lawsuit against his removal. He argued that the sitting which led to his impeachment was unconstitutional.
