March 25, (THEWILL) – About three weeks after securing his re-election to the red chamber of the National Assembly, the Senator representing Cross River North, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has empowered women in his constituency with sewing machines.
The empowerment took place at his residence in Ogoja, with the beneficiaries spread across the five Local Government Areas that constitute the district.
Senator Jarigbe said the empowerment exercise was part of the fulfilment of the promise made to the women and his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.
He charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the equipment and assured other constituents, who are yet to benefit, to remain patient as they will be accommodated in subsequent batches.
The beneficiaries congratulated the Senator on his recent victory at the polls and prayed for God’s continued guidance and protection on him as he prepares to continue his great deeds in Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly.
Mrs. Akobe, the Chapter Women Leader for Ogoja, also thanked the wife of the Senator, Mrs. Fifi Jari, for her generosity towards women and youths in the Senatorial District and also prayed that God should continue to open more doors for the entire family.
About four weeks ago, Senator Jarigbe won his re-election into the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after scoring 76,145 votes to defeat his APC counterpart, the incumbent Governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade, who scored 56,595 votes.
