Sen Titus Zam

November 08, (THEWILL) – A cross-section of people from the Gwer West local Government area of Benue State has decried the persistent negative outburst of the senator representing Benue North West, Titus Zam, against Governor Hyacinth Alia, describing it as counterproductive.

One of the respondents, Mr John Avue from the Tse Achagh community, called on Senator Zam, to rather keep to his legislative duties of law-making and lobbying for projects that have direct impacts on residents of the area.

He said Senator Zam can also do better by intervening in the area of water, rural electrification and opening feeder roads for the people of Gwer West to feel his impact in the Senate, noting that such could be achieved when he synergises with Governor Alia’s administration.

“Senator Zam has to forgive those he is accusing of not voting for him during the 2023 general election, but bring dividends of democracy as failure will count against him subsequently”, Avue stated.

Another resident, Elder Apam Abahwange, averred the poor condition of Adoka-Naka Makurdi Federal Road, in which the contractor abandoned work about three years ago, calling on Senator Zam to take steps towards contacting the supervising authority to ensure the contractor returned to the site.

According to Elder Apam, Zam has spent over a year in the Senate and has installed solar lights but only to his immediate community Tse Achagh, donated by the Federal Government Palliatives, to his party supporters at the residence of Mr Evalistus Gema, where people impersonated with placards as disabled and collected the facility.

He accused Senator Zam of not visiting any IDP camps, especially the ones at Agagbe and Naka in Gwer West, where he comes from, as herdsmen have killed many and sacked many natives from their ancestral homes.

“Senator Zam is always accusing the people of Gwer West of not voting for him in last year’s general election and efforts to persuade him to forgive about the outcome of the 2023 election is to no avail.”

He said that due to Zam’s negative posture against the authorities, the residents of Gwer West have lost several lives, farms and other economic ventures worth millions of Naira without intervention from him and the Government, calling for the cessation of hostilities for the good of the constituents.
