December 16, (THEWILL) — The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointments of Lateef Kayode Kolawole Are, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke as non-career ambassadors.
The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which screened the nominees and found them qualified for the diplomatic assignments.
Are hails from Ogun State, Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Oke from Oyo State.
Presenting its report, the committee said the nominations align with Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and ongoing diplomatic engagements, noting that the nominees possess the requisite experience and competence to effectively represent the country abroad.
The upper chamber adopted the committee’s recommendations through a voice vote, thereby clearing the nominees to assume their ambassadorial duties.
The newly confirmed non-career ambassadors are expected to advance Nigeria’s political, economic, and diplomatic interests, strengthen bilateral relations, and promote the country’s image in their respective foreign postings.
