October 30, (THEWILL) — The Senate has confirmed Dr Bernard Doro as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu had last week requested the Senate’s confirmation of Doro, in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
THEWILL reports that Doro’s appointment follows Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda’s election as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in July. Yilwatda previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Appearing before lawmakers, the Plateau State-born technocrat pledged to promote fairness and transparency in Nigeria’s humanitarian interventions.
“I will create a humanitarian ecosystem that is inclusive, guided by impartiality and independence,” Doro assured Senators during the screening session.
His screening, which lasted less than 30 minutes, saw lawmakers express confidence in his experience and leadership.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa LGA of Plateau State, Doro has over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in the UK and Nigeria. He has degrees in Pharmacy and law, an MBA focusing on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Doro, an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with NHS frontline experience across urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospital settings. has also led youth mentorship and social impact initiatives in the diaspora and local communities.
