Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami SAN

BEVERLY HILLS, June 21, (THEWILL) – The Senate has summoned the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami SAN, over a suit he filed against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, for allegedly forging the Senate Standing Order 2015.

It arrived at this decision on Tuesday following a motion moved by the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, who relied on order 14 and 52, to demand the approval of his colleagues for his two prayers including the invitation of the AGF and the genuineness of the rule book.

The Upper Chamber which declared that its standing rules were authentic and not forged summoned Malami “to explain and to justify with evidence the basis for his act and to explain why it does not constitute incompetence, gross misconduct, contempt of court and abuse of office.”

While raising the point of order, Melaye argued that if the senate rule book was forged it implied that‎ the passed 2015 budget, and all ministers confirmed by the upper legislative chamber were fake.

According to him, “The senate notes that its principal officers are being accused of a fraud that does not exist.

“This emerging trend poses a threat to security and Nigeria’s unity. The executive has decided to be chasing rats when the economy is gradually falling into a recession. The senate is aware of the dubious acts of the attorney-general of the federation and his office.

“The same rule that is said to be a fraud has been used to screen a nuisance like the AGF. This senate without fear or favour will continue to promote the peace and unity of this great nation.”
