June 30, (THEWILL) — The 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Akwa Ibom State, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, has formally resigned his membership of the party.
In a letter addressed to the NNPP Ward Chairman in Uyo Ward 6, Uyo Local Government Area, the former senator stated that his resignation takes immediate effect, describing the decision as personal and free of any grievances toward the party or its leadership.
Dated June 30, 2025, the letter reads in part: “I write to formally tender my resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with immediate effect. After careful reflection, I have decided to review my membership with the NNPP.
“My time in the NNPP has been eventful and has offered valuable lessons. I believe it is time to move on.
“I remain grateful to the party leadership, stakeholders, and members at all levels who welcomed me and supported my aspiration since joining the party. My decision to leave is entirely personal and devoid of any ill will toward the party or its leadership.
“Please accept this letter as my formal disengagement from all party activities, roles, and responsibilities. I wish the NNPP continued success in its future endeavours.”
Senator Akpanudoedehe, a former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory and one-time National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, joined the NNPP ahead of the 2023 general elections, where he contested for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State.
