Senators Udende, Zam Lose APC Primary Election Bid In Benue

May 19, (THEWILL) — Senators Emmanuel Udende and Titus Zam of Benue North East and West’s bids to secure the All Progressives Congress primary election ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections were unsuccessful following their defeat at the polls.
The Chairman for the Senate Primaries Election  Committee in Benue State, Alhaji Saidu Mahuta, while announcing the results at the APC State secretariat in Makurdi on Tuesday, said reports across the state indicated that the exercise held on Monday was hitch-free.
According to him, in Benue North East, senator Gabriel Suswam polled 131,083 votes to defeat the incumbent, Emmanuel Udende, who scored 1,363, while Douglas Pepe (SAN) got 7,304, Fidelis Unongo, 865 and Stephen Utah followed with 138 votes, respectively.
For Benue North West, Alhaji Mahuta declared Retired Assistant Controller General of Custom, Benjamin Terseer Aber, as the winner after scoring 93,412 votes, while Emmanuel Jime had 5,435, with David Awuna and incumbent senator, Titus Zam, polling 21,731 and 2,557 votes accordingly.
According to Alhaji Mahuta, in the Benue South, Francis Ottah Agbo polled 58,760, the highest votes cast to emerge the winner; explaining that Joseph Ojobo had 6,782, Daniel Onje scored 4,570 votes, Nelson Alapa, 4,312, Gabriel Agidani 5,246, and Patrick Idoko scoring 2,732 votes.
He commended members of the party for their cooperation in the course of the primaries, calling on aggrieved aspirants to forward their complaints to the committee within twenty four hours from the time of the announcement of the results.
In his remarks, the State chairman of the APC, Dr Benjamin Omale, commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for creating an enabling environment that led to a hitch-free exercise.
While extending felicitation to president Bola Tinubu, the national chairman of APC and the election committee, he urged all aspirants who lost out to remain and work for the victory of the party in 2027 in the state and nationally.
