January 20, (THEWILL) — Seplat Energy Plc has commenced production at its 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) ANOH Gas Processing Plant, marking a major boost to Nigeria’s domestic gas supply and the country’s energy transition agenda.
In a statement released on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the company confirmed that this milestone followed the completion of the 11-kilometre Indorama gas export pipeline and the receipt of regulatory approvals from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) on January 16.
Gas deliveries to the Indorama Petrochemical Company have officially begun under firm and interruptible Gas Sales Agreements.
Seplat disclosed that initial production has stabilized at between 40 and 52 MMscfd of processed gas, while condensate output has reached approximately 2,000–2,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd).
These volumes are expected to rise significantly as the plant ramps up to its full design capacity.
The company further stated that preparations are underway to initiate gas sales to Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).
Meanwhile, construction on the OB3 pipeline export route by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) has resumed, with a revised completion timeline expected to be communicated shortly.
The ANOH gas plant was developed by the ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), an incorporated joint venture between Seplat Energy and NGIC.
The facility features two 150 MMscfd processing trains, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recovery units, condensate stabilization facilities, and a 16-megawatt power plant. Designed with sustainability in mind, the plant is built to operate with zero routine flaring.
This project unlocks an estimated 4.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of condensate-rich gas resources across the unitized OML 53 and OML 21 fields. Seplat’s working interest 2P reserves in the field stood at approximately 0.8 Tcf as of year-end 2024.
The company expects to generate value through wet gas sales into the ANOH plant and dividends from its 50 per cent equity holding in AGPC.
Seplat noted that LPG from ANOH, combined with production from its Sapele and Bonny River terminals, will strengthen its position as a leading supplier of clean cooking fuel to the domestic market.
The plant will also process flared gas from the Ohaji field, supporting the company’s “End of Routine Flaring” program.
Commenting on the development, Seplat Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Roger Brown, described ANOH as the first of seven critical gas development projects identified by the Federal Government to commence operations.
He noted that the project is a major strategic achievement that increases the joint venture’s gas processing capacity to over 850 MMscfd.
Brown added that the project will generate significant income streams, reduce carbon intensity, and contribute to Seplat’s 2030 production target of 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The plant was completed without a single Lost Time Incident across 17.5 million man-hours, underscoring the company’s commitment to operational safety.
