November 04, (THEWILL) – Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday called on security operatives to set up intelligence to rid the state of criminal elements in cult-related killings and arm robbery operations.

The speaker Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo said that it was high time the security agencies in the state come up with plans to curb the activities of cultism, armed robbery as well as illegal activities perpetrated by street urchins otherwise known as area boys in the state.

Olomo stated that the criminal activities of the area boys had continued to throw residents of communities under Abeokuta South Local Government into palpable fear, thus affecting the socio-economic activities of the towns.

He disclosed this while responding to the submission of a member representing Abeokuta South II State Constituency, Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, who spoke under Personal Explanation on the various attacks unleashed by criminals in his constituency.

Ademuyiwa had submitted that the area boys armed with arms and ammunition had continue to unleash terror among the residents of his constituency in order to rob them of their properties and loot the shops of business owners especially those at the road sides in the area

The speaker, however, called on members of the communities to join hands with security agencies in the state through exchange of intelligence and information to rid their areas of crime and criminality

He also tasked the Community Development Councils and Associations to liaise with members of the vigilante in their respective communities towards ensuring increasing monitoring and patrol of the entire constituency.
