January 16, (THEWILL) — Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, scheduled for Saturday, January 17, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry.
A statement from the Presidency said the visit reflects Nigeria’s leadership role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its commitment to supporting Guinea’s return to constitutional governance, while strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between both countries.
The engagement is also expected to deepen Nigeria–Guinea trade relations, following increased Nigerian exports of manufactured and agricultural goods valued at about $3.29 million.
From Guinea, the Vice President will proceed to Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, to attend the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF 2026), to be held from January 19 to 23.
At the forum, themed “A Spirit of Dialogue”, Shettima will engage world leaders, policymakers and investors on Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms, investment opportunities, and Africa’s role in building a resilient and inclusive global economy under the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
