May 12, (THEWILL) -A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Professor Terhemba Shija, has reiterated his calls for Benue people to carefully assess all aspirants, so as to avoid the mistakes of the past which have plunged the State into its current socio-economic problems.
Prof. Shija made the call while presenting his nomination form to the Benue public on Sunday, at a ceremony held at his campaign headquarters in Makurdi, the state capital.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to Prof. Shija, Mr Samuel Adzegeh, said the occasion attracted hordes of supporters from across the State and even beyond.
Addressing supporters, Shija reemphasised his commitment to rebuild the State with policies that would directly impact on youth, the aged, retired civil servants, pensioners and other underprivileged persons in Benue society, as contained in his blueprint, “the Benue Rebuild Agenda”, a document which promises to reposition the State through massive investments in its human and agricultural resources, so as to take the State to its rightful place in Nigeria.
Identifying security as the bedrock of all developmental endeavours, Shija said he would synergise with the State House of Assembly and also promote inter-State and other cross border initiatives to ensure lasting peace in the Benue society.
The occasion featured goodwill messages from array of giants in the political and academic world, including Professors Moses Ogbaji, Atser Gyuve of JS Tarka University, Makurdi, and Nasarawa State University, Keffi, respectively, as well as Drs. Ata Pine and Bishop Sunday Onah, a former member of the Benue State House of Assembly, as well as former Chairman of Adoh local government council.
In a related development, Prof. Terhemba Shija, has presented his APC Governorship Nomination Form to the Middle Belt Leader of the party and Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, senator George Akume.
The presentation took place in Akume’s residence at Judges’ Quarters, Makurdi, as witnessed by Elder Simon Shango, among others.
