Sokoto Govt Bans Signing-Out Parties In Secondary Schools

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State

July 24, (THEWILL) — The Sokoto State Government has banned all “signing-out” celebrations by graduating secondary school students across the state.

The ban, which applies to both public and private schools, was announced on Thursday by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Ahmad Ladan Ala.

In a statement, Ala said the decision followed rising cases of student misconduct during the celebrations, including vandalism, unruly behaviour, and disruption of public peace.

He noted that what initially began as a celebratory tradition had deteriorated into chaos and a deviation from academic values.

Reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining discipline, the Commissioner warned that any school that flouts the directive will face appropriate sanctions.
