November 10, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sokoto State Council, has released its timetable and eligibility criteria for members aspiring to contest in the upcoming election of new executive officials.

According to a statement by the Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Abdallah el-Kurebe, the election process will kick off on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, and culminate in the election day set for Saturday, December 21, 2024.

El-Kurebe outlined the schedule, detailing activities such as the sale and submission of nomination forms, candidate screening, display of screened candidates, submission and hearing of claims and objections, publication of the final list, a manifesto night, and finally, the election itself.

The statement emphasised that aspiring candidates must fulfil requirements set out in Articles 3 and 6 of the NUJ Constitution to be eligible to run.

El-Kurebe called on all union members and candidates to cooperate with the committee to ensure a seamless and transparent election process.
