February 08, (THEWILL) – The Sokoto State Government has announced plans to expand its annual Ramadan feeding programme, ensuring that more indigent and vulnerable residents benefit from the initiative.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu made this known during the inauguration of the remodeled Ruggar Wauru Jumu’at Mosque in Sokoto.
Aliyu stated that his administration is making early preparations for the 2025 Ramadan fast, with a strong focus on improving the quality of meals provided at designated feeding centres.
“We are working ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan fast to improve the quality of food served at our feeding centres. Additionally, my administration is set to expand the programme to new areas, ensuring that communities without feeding centres can now benefit from the initiative,” the governor said.
Aliyu also reiterated his administration’s commitment to the promotion of Islamic affairs, which includes the renovation and construction of mosques and Islamiyya schools across the state.
He listed some of the recently completed Jumu’at mosques including; Sheikh Musa Lukuwa Mosque, Tahsinul Qur’an Mosque, Runjin Sambo Mosque, Sheikh Gumi Sultan Maccido Mosque (Emir Yahaya Road, Sokoto), and Central Mosques in Yabo and Gwadabawa.
The governor reaffirmed his resolve to enhance religious infrastructure and social welfare programmes, ensuring that the government’s interventions positively impact the lives of the people.
