September 28, (THEWILL) – A 38-year old Elizabeth James Udofia, who is suffering severe pains due to a spinal cord injury, has appealed for N3.5million financial assistance from the Akwa Ibom state government, corporate organisations and spirited individuals to enable her undergo surgical operations.

Elizabeth, a 2010 graduate’s of Accounting from the University of Calabar, Cross River state told THEWILL in Uyo on Tuesday, that she sustained the injury as a result of her involvement in an auto crash on October, 2012 while traveling in a commercial bus (Agofure Motors) from Warri to Asaba in Delta state

Elizabeth, an applicant, who hails from Ikot Oku Nsit in Nsit Ibom local government area, Akwa Ibom  state, said that she along with other passengers who had injuries were rushed to Ozora General Hospital in Delta where she was admitted for seven days and discharged.

She further explained that the pains resurfaced and became severer  when she got involved in another auto crash early this year, hence the resort to seeking help from the public to help her undergo operations and be well again so as to be useful to herself and the society.

The medical reports on her from The Ibom Specialist Hospital, Uyo, dated April 12, 2021 revealed that Elizabeth has tenderness along the Lumbar spine and significant impairment in her gait.

MRI report showed multilevel disc degeneration with disc prolapse at L4/L5 with the central and foraminal stenosis. A diagnosis of L4/L5 Disc prolapse with radiculopathy and instability was made.

The proposed surgery is estimated to cost Three million naira only (N3,000,000)
