February 24, (THEWILL) – A pastor in charge of Life and Power Bible Church in Ogijo, Mathew Oladapo, has revealed that he was overwhelmed by the Spirit of God after he allegedly raped a teenage church member.
The man of God was said to have forcefully had sex with the 19-year-old church member, while performing deliverance on her.
The suspect, it was learnt, took advantage of the teenager under the pretext of delivering her from ‘spiritual husband’.
He was said to have invited the girl to a room in the church premises for a three night of fasting and prayer, where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her
The victim, after being raped, went to report the pastor at the Ogijo divisional police headquarters.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said that upon the report, the DPO, Ogijo division, CSP Onatufe Umoh, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy pastor was promptly arrested.
He explained that the pastor told the victim that he saw a vision about her having a spiritual husband, which she needs to be delivered of.
The Police PRO explained further that the pastor said the victim will undergo three nights of fasting and prayer in the church for total deliverance and also asked her to bring N1,000 and an anointing oil.
“But on the first night of the fasting and prayer, she was taken to a room within the church premises, where the pastor ordered her to pull off her clothes and undies and lay down on a piece of cloth on the floor which she obeyed.”
“While laying on the floor, the pastor started rubbing the anointing oil on her body and inserted his finger into her private part. When she protested, the pastor pinned her down, covered her mouth and forcefully had sex with her with the claim that it is the only way to break bond she has with the spiritual husband”, he added.
Oyeyemi said that on interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, but claimed that he was overwhelmed by the spirit of God.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
