Professor Aliyu replaces Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who recently resigned his position to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Until his new role, Aliyu served as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, where he built a reputation as a distinguished academic and seasoned administrator with extensive experience in research, education, and institutional leadership.

His appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening critical institutions in the petroleum sector and advancing capacity development for Nigeria’s energy industry.

Tinubu tasked him with repositioning the PTDF to deliver greater impact in human capital development, innovation, and strategic support for the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities.

In the power sector, the President renewed the appointment of Abdulaziz following a comprehensive assessment of his performance and leadership at the TCN.

Under his stewardship, the company has recorded notable improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and system modernisation, reinforcing its pivotal role in Nigeria’s electricity value chain.

Abdulaziz, who has over three decades of experience in the power sector, has also strengthened regional electricity integration through his leadership role in the West African Power Pool (WAPP).

Tinubu urged both appointees to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of national service, in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
