November 25, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
The appointment, announced on Tuesday, takes immediate effect and places Uzodimma at the forefront of mobilising support for the administration’s agenda across the country.
Under the new role, Governor Uzodimma will also serve as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation. He is expected to work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governors elected on the party’s platform to sensitise citizens on government programmes and promote the administration’s achievements.
According to the Presidency, the appointment is aimed at strengthening harmony, inclusiveness and strategic coordination within the APC. As Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Uzodimma will lead efforts to energise grassroots engagement and ensure a broader understanding of the Renewed Hope agenda among Nigerians. All APC governors will likewise serve as Ambassadors of Hope within their respective states.
President Tinubu charged Uzodimma and his colleagues to intensify the dissemination of the government’s milestones since 2023, noting that the administration’s reform agenda has begun delivering tangible economic gains. He highlighted improvements such as declining inflation for seven consecutive months—now down to 16.05 per cent—as well as a stabilised exchange rate and a surge in foreign reserves, which have climbed to over $46 billion.
The President also pointed to renewed investor confidence, with rising Foreign Direct Investment and increased portfolio inflows, particularly in the oil, gas and solid minerals sectors. He described the ongoing diversification of the economy as a major driver of growth and applauded the success of the new educational loan scheme, which has already enrolled more than 700,000 students.
Other improvements cited include reduced waiting times for Nigerian passports, with processing now requiring less than a week.
In his message to the newly appointed ambassador, President Tinubu urged Governor Uzodimma to intensify efforts to ensure Nigerians fully understand the administration’s policies and achievements under the Renewed Hope vision.
The appointment is expected to strengthen the ruling party’s mobilisation efforts further as the government prepares to roll out its Ward Development Programme nationwide.
