October 24, (THEWILL) – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Nigerian Senate to consider and confirm seven nominees, including Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, for appointment as Ministers.
The President conveyed the request in a letter read on Thursday, by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during plenary session.
THEWILL reports that President Tinubu had, in a move to reinvigorate his administration’s capacity to deliver on his promises to Nigerians, on Wednesday, fired seven Ministers and nominated seven others for immediate appointment into his cabinet.
The sacked Ministers included Barrister Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.
The ministerial nominees for Senate’s consideration and approval are Dr Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction); Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour & Employment); Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs); Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment); Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development); Yusuf Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development) and Dr Suwaiba Ahmad, (State Education).
Meanwhile, Senate President Akpabio has referred the nominees to the Committee of Whole for further legislative work as soon as possible.
