Modi and Tinubu

November 17, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Modi was honoured on Sunday, during a bilateral meeting with the Nigerian leader at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“The honour is to signify our appreciation of India as Nigeria’s partner”, Tinubu said.

Modi, who arrived Abuja on Saturday evening, was received at Forecourt of the State House by President Tinubu at about 10:20 am on Sunday.

On arrival, the Indian leader was welcomed with the Indian Anthem, which was followed by a Guard of Honour, mounted by Brigade of Guards, rendered the Nigerian Anthem and led the visiting leader in inspection of the mounted parade.

A 21-gun salute followed the inspection of the mounted Guard of Honour.
