January 05, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on his 63rd birthday, praising his leadership qualities and commitment to grassroots development in the state.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday to mark the Governor’s birthday on January 5, 2026, President Tinubu described Governor Yusuf as a leader of integrity, modesty, and humility, whose dedication to public service is evident in his administration’s policies and programs.
The President noted that Governor Yusuf, who was elected in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has continued to build on his wealth of experience in governance.
He specifically cited Yusuf’s previous role as Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transport between 2011 and 2015 under the administration of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a foundation for his current success.
According to President Tinubu, Kano State’s status as a stronghold of progressive politics in Northern Nigeria has been reinforced under Governor Yusuf’s leadership.
He noted that the administration’s renewed focus on the welfare of the talakawa (the common people) echoes the historic ideals championed by the late Mallam Aminu Kano.
The President commended the Governor’s ongoing infrastructural transformation agenda, highlighting urban renewal programs that include the construction of strategic bridges and the ongoing development of five kilometers of roads in each of the state’s 44 local government areas.
President Tinubu also lauded the declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector by the Kano State Government.
He noted that this bold policy has already contributed to a marked improvement in the performance of Kano students in the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.
Expressing confidence that Governor Yusuf’s leadership experience has adequately prepared him for the developmental tasks ahead, the President encouraged him to sustain the momentum of his reforms.
He concluded by wishing the Governor good health, long life, and many more years of impactful and transformative leadership for the people of Kano State.
