April 17, (THEWILL) – The Presidency said President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to his duties remain unwavering, and remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe.
The President departed Nigeria on April 2nd for Paris, France, on a two-week working visit.
But amid recent killings in Plateau, Benue, and other states, Nigerians, including opposition leaders have questioned the President’s stay in France.
But in response to the criticisms over his absence, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said in a statement on Thursday that President Tinubu’s absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated time frame of approximately two weeks.
He said the President left Paris for London at the weekend and has maintained constant communication with key government officials, overseeing critical national matters, including directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in some parts of the country.
“We appreciate the public’s concern and assure all Nigerians that governance proceeds without interruption”, he said, adding that the President will return to Abuja after the Easter holiday.
