June 07, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has joined the nation in mourning the passing of Mike Ejeagha, a legendary Igbo folklorist, songwriter, and musician, who died on Friday, at the age of 95.
The President, in a statement signed on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the late cultural icon.
He reflected on Ejeagha’s remarkable contribution to preserving Igbo culture through his music and storytelling.
“May the spirit and values of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha’s music continue to remind us that music has the power to revive, heal and redirect energy towards worthy causes that help build our nation”, he said.
President Tinubu also commended the Enugu State Government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, for honouring the music legend while he was still alive.
Praying for peace for the departed soul, President Tinubu asked God Almighty to grant eternal rest to Mike Ejeagha and comfort to all who mourn his loss.
