November 06, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu on Thursday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners.
Speaking at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after swearing in two newly appointed ministers, Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) and Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, the President maintained that Nigeria remains united in its pursuit of peace, security and development.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism,” Tinubu said.
His remarks follow renewed global attention on Nigeria’s security situation, including the recent classification of the country as a “Country of Particular Concern” by U.S. President Donald Trump, a position the Federal Government has rejected as misleading.
Tinubu said his administration would continue to focus on strengthening national security while deepening international partnerships necessary for counterterrorism efforts and economic recovery.
The swearing-in ceremony preceded the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
During the meeting, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, reported that the Nigerian economy is recording steady growth, noting that the Gross Domestic Product grew by 4.23 per cent in the second quarter of 2025.
Responding, the President commended members of the cabinet for their performance so far, but stressed the need for greater coordination among ministries to achieve government priorities.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose. This is not a time for division or complacency. We must stay focused on delivering on our promises,” Tinubu said.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive as his administration continues to implement its Renewed Hope agenda.
