November 24, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the Nation’s capital, after attending the 19th meeting of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The presidential airplane which took off from Galeao Air Force Base, Rio de Janeiro, at about 10:20 a.m (local time) on Saturday, arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, late Saturday night. He was welcomed on arrival by a number of Government officials including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
President Tinubu departed Nigeria on Sunday, for the two-day Summit, which held on Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 20, 2024.
The summit brought together leaders from the world’s top 20 economies, including the European Union, the African Union, and multilateral financial institutions, among others.
Under the theme, ‘Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet’, discussions at the meeting centred around the fight against hunger and poverty; reform of the Institution of global governance and; sustainable development and Energy Transition. Nigeria was invited as a guest country for participation at the summit.
At the summit, President Tinubu announced commitment of Nigeria to the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, launched by the Brazilian presidency of G-20.
The Nigerian leader also had some bilateral meetings and saw to the signing of letter of intent for Nigeria’s partnership with three Brazilian companies to facilitate development of Nigeria’s livestock sector.
