November 12, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the Nation’s capital, after attending the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The presidential airplane which took off from the King Abdulaziz International airport at about 3:30 p.m on Tuesday, arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 8 p.m. He was welcomed on arrival by a number of Government officials including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
President Tinubu departed Nigeria on Sunday for the Riyadh Summit, which held on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The one-day summit was a follow-up to the Riyadh summit last year and was attended by Heads of State and Government of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the League of Arab States. The event was at the instance of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
While in Riyadh, President Tinubu Monday, called for an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza, warning that “the conflict in Palestine has persisted for far too long, inflicting immeasurable suffering.”
Addressing the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on Monday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, President Tinubu expressed deep concern about the humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Reiterating Nigeria’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, President Tinubu affirmed the country’s support for a two-state solution, where both Israelis and Palestinians can co-exist in security and dignity. He noted that this solution remained a viable part of lasting peace in the region.
After the summit, President Tinubu also had an audience with the Saudi Crown-Prince, Mohammed bin Salman where both leaders explored potential areas for cooperation, particularly oil and gas, agriculture, infrastructure and the constitution of the Saudi-Nigeria Business Council.
The Prince further assured of Saudi’s support Salman for the ongoing economic reform programmes of President Tinubu’s administration.
