March 10, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday forwarded a letter to the Senate, seeking confirmation for the appointment of Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre (NADC).

The letter, addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was read at plenary in Abuja.

Tinubu stated that the appointment request is in accordance with Section 15 of the 2025 Nigerian Anti-Doping Act, emphasizing that Illo is nominated for an initial four-year term as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the NADC.

“In line with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Act 2025, I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate the appointment of Mr. Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre (NADC) for an initial term of four years.

“While I hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in its usual expeditious manner, please accept, Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read.

Following the submission, Senate President Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committees on Narcotics and Sports for further legislative scrutiny, with instructions to report back to plenary “as soon as practicable.”
