December 03, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday swore in the newly appointed Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, along with two commissioners and five Federal Permanent Secretaries.
Dr. Yusuf, appointed NPC Chairman on October 9, took the oath alongside two commission members, including Dr. Tonga Betara from Yobe State.
The five permanent secretaries sworn in are Abdulkarim Ibrahim, Dr. John Ezeamama, Dr. Abdul-Sule Garba, Dr. Isiaku Mohammed, and Dr. Ukaire Chigbowu.
The brief ceremony, held at the State House in Abuja, preceded the President’s presiding over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the Council Chamber.
The NPC is tasked with conducting national censuses, vital registration, and managing demographic data critical for Nigeria’s development planning.
During Wednesday’s FEC session, council members also observed a minute of silence in honour of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Joy Ogwu, who passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 79.
