August 05, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has ordered the transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation to the Presidency to ensure seamless execution of legacy projects.
The President gave the directive in his address at a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) held last Thursday in Abuja.
While commending the council’s endorsement of a new ward-based development strategy, Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), to actualise double-digit economic growth through direct intervention in Nigeria’s 8,809 administrative wards across all 36 states, President Tinubu directed NEC to set up a committee to enhance the actualisation of legacy projects, especially the Lagos-Calabar and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highways.
He explained that the transfer of the Surveyor-General’s office to the Presidency will ensure seamless planning, geospatial coordination, and timely delivery of priority federal infrastructure such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway.
The President emphasised that the decision would also eliminate bureaucratic delays and enhance oversight of the administration’s strategic developmental goals.
“We must break away from bottlenecks. Our legacy projects are too important to be slowed down. We’re taking direct control to ensure results”, he said.
