October 12, (THEWILL) – The Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse, has called on the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), to incorporate traditional institutions in the administration of local Government.
Playing host to the leadership of the Benue State chapter of ALGON at his palace in Gboko, when they came to seek royal blessing, commended them for the visit.
Professor Ayatse, who is also the State Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, advised council chairmen to identify priority needs in their various areas.
The Tiv paramount ruler posited that the autonomy of the local Government comes with some responsibilities and appealed to them to work with the state government to ensure seamless administration in the third tier of government.
He, therefore, admonished the Council chairmen to tackle insecurity and reduce poverty among the rural people, urging them to work in unity and share ideas that will promote development in their respective councils.
Earlier, the State ALGON Chairman, who is the Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, Mr Maurice Owoh, informed the Tor Tiv that they were in his palace to seek royal blessings to enable them to do well in office.
The ALGON, therefore, appealed for partnership with the traditional institutions in the state for development to thrive in their areas.
