November 03, (THEWILL) — Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group) has announced a pre-tax profit of N38.81 billion for the third quarter (Q3) ended September 30, 2025, representing a 53.8 percent increase compared to the N25.23 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

The conglomerate, which operates across the energy, hospitality, and power sectors, also recorded a 53.96 percent rise in group revenue, which stood at N133.76 billion during the quarter, compared to N86.9 billion reported in Q3 2024.

For the nine-month period ending September 30, 2025, Transcorp posted N413.44 billion in revenue, representing a 38.9 percent increase from N297.7 billion recorded in the same period of 2024. Pre-tax profit for the nine months grew to N124.52 billion, compared with N105.5 billion a year earlier, indicating an 18 percent rise year-on-year.

Energy and hospitality drive group performance

Transcorp’s energy business remained the group’s largest revenue contributor, generating approximately N270.9 billion, or about 66 percent of total group turnover for the nine-month period. The growth was supported by sustained generation capacity and increased operational efficiency within the power subsidiaries.

The hospitality business, represented by Transcorp Hotels Plc, also recorded strong results during the quarter.

Revenue from the hospitality segment rose 49 percent to N72.31 billion in Q3 2025, up from N48.49 billion in Q3 2024. Pre-tax profit in the same period grew by 36 percent to N22.4 billion, compared with N16.4 billion last year.

According to the group’s financial disclosures, the increase in hotel revenue was driven by improved occupancy levels, higher room rates, and continued recovery in the business and leisure travel segments. The group said it continues to focus on expanding service offerings under the Transcorp Hilton and Aura brands.

Cost management and profitability:

Transcorp reported that cost of sales for the quarter stood at N68.08 billion, compared to N47.56 billion in Q3 2024. Gross profit rose to N65.68 billion, a 67 percent increase year-on-year, reflecting effective cost control relative to revenue growth.

Operating profit for Q3 2025 grew 64 percent to N45.73 billion, compared to N27.8 billion in the corresponding quarter of 2024. The group’s net finance income also increased 68 percent to N5.79 billion, supported by improved treasury income and disciplined financial management.

Transcorp’s profit before tax margin for the quarter stood at 29 percent, up from 28 percent recorded a year earlier. The group’s profit after tax figures for the nine-month period also showed steady improvement, indicating continued growth in underlying profitability.

Stronger balance sheet position:

The group’s balance sheet expanded significantly during the review period. Total assets increased to N940.89 billion as at September 30, 2025, representing a 26.2 percent growth from N745.8 billion recorded in September 2024.

Shareholders’ funds rose to N309.57 billion, a 13.9 percent increase compared to N271.7 billion in the previous year, reflecting retained earnings and value accretion from the group’s performance.

Transcorp also maintained a strong liquidity position during the period, while total liabilities increased moderately in line with business expansion. Trade and other payables accounted for a large portion of current liabilities, consistent with the scale of operations in its power and hospitality subsidiaries.

Outlook:

Transcorp said it will continue to leverage opportunities within Nigeria’s power, energy, and hospitality sectors to drive growth and enhance shareholder returns. The group noted that it is investing in capacity expansion within its power generation assets, exploring new energy partnerships, and deepening its presence in the hospitality sector through new developments and digital platforms.

The conglomerate, listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), said it remains committed to maintaining financial discipline and sustaining profitability amid inflationary pressures and foreign exchange fluctuations in the Nigerian economy.
