September 16, (THEWILL) — Troops of the Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin Kai, have killed eight fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province during a clash in Borno State.
A military source said the encounter occurred in the early hours of Monday near Garin Giwa along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route, where the terrorists attempted to disrupt military operations.
“During the exchange of fire, eight ISWAP fighters were neutralised, including two Munzirs and one Qaid. They were identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota,” the source said.
According to the source, several other insurgents escaped with gunshot wounds, abandoning 14 motorcycles, which were recovered by troops, thereby weakening the group’s logistics and mobility.
The Theatre Command, the source added, remains resolute in its commitment to eliminating terrorism and restoring peace across the North-East.
Meanwhile, the military high command has commended the troops for the operation and urged them to sustain the momentum despite challenges in the theatre.
