June 05, (THEWILL) – Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks on Buratai and Mallam Fatori towns in Borno State, killing several insurgents, including three top commanders of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The Nigerian Air Force, in support of ground operations, also conducted precision airstrikes on Thursday in Bita, a known insurgent stronghold.
The bombardments reportedly destroyed terrorist hideouts and neutralized scores of fighters, dealing a significant blow to the operational capacity of the terror groups.
Military sources confirmed that the counteroffensive, which was driven by swift tactical response and actionable intelligence, led to the deaths of three high-ranking insurgent leaders identified as Amir Abu Ali, Amir Ibunu, and Amir Abu Waldume.
“These three prominent Boko Haram/ISWAP leaders—Amir Abu Ali, Amir Ibunu, and Amir Abu Waldume—were eliminated in intense gun battles in Mallam Fatori and Buratai,” the Nigerian Army announced via its official handle on X (formerly Twitter).
The military further disclosed that no civilian casualties were recorded during the operations, describing the outcome as a major milestone in ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the North-East.
The latest success adds to a string of recent gains by Nigerian security forces against insurgents, as authorities continue efforts to stabilize the region and restore peace to affected communities.
