March 19, (THEWILL)- Military troops stationed in Maraban Maigora, Katsina State, have rescued 16 kidnapped victims abducted by bandits.
The victims rescued on Monday, by Team 3 of the Combat military troops were among the 54 women abducted along Gamji-Dandume road on February 3, 2024. Those rescued include ten women and six minors.
A statement issued on Tuesday, by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina state, said they were rescued during a routine patrol at Rimi Community after being held for 46 days by their abductors.
“Following their rescue, the women and children were promptly handed over to the Chairman of Sabuwa LGA, who in turn reunited them with their families and relatives,” he added.
Reacting to the development, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda commended the troops for their bravery and decisive action, reassuring the public of his administration’s unwavering commitment to end banditry in the state.
