September 11, (THEWILL) — Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and local vigilantes, have rescued 17 kidnapped bus passengers in Kogi State.
The victims, including 13 adults and 4 children were abducted on September 10, 2025, when kidnappers intercepted a 17-seater bus travelling from Osun State to Abuja at Opamaru Village along the Obajana–Lokoja Road.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops from Patrol Base Apata, reinforced by the Brigade’s Quick Response Group, swiftly mobilised to the scene.
A statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said the soldiers found the bus abandoned and, using tracking skills, pursued the kidnappers to Wuro Village in Adavi LGA.
“Confronted by superior firepower, the criminals fled with gunshot wounds, leaving all victims behind”, Abdullahi said.
The rescued passengers were subsequently taken to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre for first aid and stabilisation.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property, the Nigerian Army urged the public to always provide timely information to support its operations.
