October 23, (THEWILL) — The Dangote Group has refuted claims circulating on social media linking one of its trucks to a road accident that occurred in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the company clarified that the truck involved in the unfortunate incident does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.
According to the statement, verified vehicle registration details revealed that the truck, with Plate Number JJJ 365 XB, is owned and operated by an independent logistics company with no connection to Dangote Group. It further explained that the vehicle was conveying crushed stones in reused sacks bearing various brand names, not Dangote products.
“The company wishes to make it categorically clear that the truck involved in the unfortunate incident does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries”, the statement read.
Dangote emphasised that its trucks are properly branded, tracked, and operated by trained personnel under strict safety and compliance standards. It further noted that genuine Dangote trucks carry distinct company markings and fleet numbers for easy identification.
While expressing sympathy to victims of the crash, the company urged the public and media outlets to verify information before attributing ownership or involvement to the Dangote Group. It also advised media organisations to desist from using images of Dangote-branded trucks in connection with accidents or incidents unrelated to the company’s operations.
