April 23, (THEWILL) – Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, George Turnah, has promised sweeping reforms to reposition the party for future electoral victories.
Turnah, who made the pledge while formally accepting his new role, said his leadership would prioritise the welfare of party members, including those at the state, local government, and ward levels.
In a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, Turnah—who also serves as the South-South Zonal Secretary of the PDP—expressed gratitude to the National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Dan Osi Orbih, and the South-South Zonal Working Committee for the confidence reposed in him.
He assured that he would discharge his duties with humility, transparency, and a strong sense of responsibility, adding that his major focus would be to prepare the party for a successful outing in the 2027 general elections.
As part of the reforms, Turnah revealed plans to seek a more functional and accessible state secretariat for the party. He noted that he would not operate from the Super Lodge within the Government House in Yenagoa, where his predecessor had been based for five years.
He explained that relocating the party’s administrative base would eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks and promote daily engagement with party stakeholders.
“My leadership will prioritise increased engagement and consultation with stakeholders while ensuring discipline across party ranks,” Turnah stated.
He further pledged to maintain an open-door policy aimed at fostering unity and strengthening internal collaboration within the PDP in Bayelsa State.
