Uba Sani, Yusuf Clinch APC Guber Tickets in Kaduna, Kano

May 21, (THEWILL) — The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday intensified efforts to strengthen its political dominance ahead of the 2027 general election as Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Abba Yusuf of Kano State emerged as the party’s governorship candidates in their respective states through consensus endorsements and affirmation votes.

In Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani secured a sweeping endorsement after polling 459,393 affirmation votes at the APC governorship primary election held in Kaduna.

Sani, who contested as the sole aspirant, received overwhelming backing from delegates and stakeholders across the state in what party leaders described as a strong vote of confidence in his administration and leadership style.

The exercise, monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), attracted prominent APC leaders, elected officials, delegates, and party supporters from the 23 local government areas of the state.

Chairman of the Kaduna APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Election Committee, Hon. Hafiz Ibrahim Kawu, who announced the result, described the primary as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the growing unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The adoption of the affirmation votes was moved by the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Liman, was unanimously endorsed by delegates amid loud cheers and celebrations by supporters at the venue.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Governor Sani expressed appreciation to APC members, stakeholders, and residents of Kaduna State for what he described as an overwhelming demonstration of trust and solidarity.

According to him, the endorsement represents a renewed mandate to deepen inclusive governance, strengthen security, and accelerate development across the state.

“We have made significant progress in restoring peace, strengthening unity, and expanding development across Kaduna State through dialogue, inclusion, and people-oriented policies.

“From infrastructure and education to rural transformation and urban renewal, our administration remains committed to improving the lives of our citizens,” the governor said.

He assured residents that his administration would consolidate on existing achievements and intensify efforts towards building a more peaceful, prosperous, and economically vibrant Kaduna State.

Similarly, in Kano State, the APC adopted Governor Abba Yusuf as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election during a party congress held at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The event drew party leaders, elected officials, delegates, and supporters from across the 44 local government areas of the state.

Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, moved the motion for Yusuf’s adoption, stating that the governor had demonstrated effective leadership and commitment to the development of Kano State, making him the preferred choice of the party for a second term.

The motion was seconded by Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South Senatorial District, who said party members remained united behind the governor’s candidacy and optimistic about retaining power in the state.

Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari, who represented the APC national leadership, said the endorsement reflected Governor Yusuf’s dedication to governance and public service.

He expressed confidence that the party would retain Kano State in 2027, citing the governor’s policies and developmental programmes.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Yusuf thanked party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to continue implementing people-oriented policies and projects.

According to him, his administration would sustain investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development aimed at improving living standards and driving economic growth across the state.
