May 25, (THEWILL) – The pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has described the people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District, comprising Afikpo North, Edda, Ivo, Onicha and Ohaozara local government areas as the luckiest to have governor David Nwaeze Umahi, as their Senator-elect.
Speaking on the civic reception held in honour of the outgoing governor by the people of Ebonyi South at Umahi’s country home, Umunaga-Uburu in Ohaozara local government area, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, also said Umahi is a-go-between for Ndigbo in Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, Nigerians would have witnessed an impressive and robust National Assembly with Umahi at the helm of affairs, as Senate President, however, he said he remains one of the men to be watched out for in the incoming government.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide felicitates with the good people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District as they host their incoming senator and outgoing Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr Dave Nweze Umahi, FNATE, FNSE to a grand civic reception at Uburu, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State.
“Certainly, Akubaraoha Umahi deserves all the praises he is getting. In fact, it is only proper that his people roll out their drums to celebrate him based on his gigantic achievements in office.
“Indeed, the people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District are lucky to have Umahi as their senator. This is because the Umahi we know is a game changer and a transformer, who transforms any office he occupies. As such, Ndi Ebonyi South should get ready to experience total transformation.
“Governor Umahi will be eternally remembered for his legacy projects such as the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Onueke, Goodluck Jonathan bridge, Iyere Edda, (the longest bridge in Ebonyi State), Arthur Eze flyover, St Margaret Umahi International Market complex, a 750-metre length twin-flyover beside the market, an ultramodern ecumenical centre, upgrading of the Abakiliki Township stadium to worldclass standard, new Government House, Presidential lodge, Abakiliki ring road, the Amasiri-Owutu-Ebunwana and Owutu-Amoso roads in Edda Local Government Area, King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu, etc.
“In fact, it’s a pity he had to step down from the Senate Presidency contest in the incoming 10th National Assembly, in deference to the incoming president’s advice. Nigerians would have witnessed an impressive and robust National Assembly with Umahi at the helm of affairs as Senate President.
“Nevertheless, he remains one of the men to be watched out for in the incoming Government. Again, he remains Ndigbo’s surest access to Tinubu, based on his loyalty to the President- elect when it mattered most”, he said.
