November 07, (THEWILL) — In a bold step toward accelerating Nigeria’s transition to renewable energy, the Honorary Special Adviser to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Creative Industry, Idongesit Ituen, has partnered with global renewable energy firm EENOVANCE to host the Green Energy Expo, a platform designed to reshape the nation’s clean energy landscape.
The Expo, unveiled by the Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem, is aimed at promoting innovative solutions that drive sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental resilience across Nigeria.
In his welcome address, Ituen, who is also the Co-founder of Energy 2Green Innovation Ltd, said the collaboration would bridge the gap between innovation and opportunity in the renewable energy sector.
“Our goal is not just to showcase technology, but to create an enabling environment where ideas are transformed into scalable solutions that benefit our people, economy, and planet”, he noted.
According to him, the Green Energy Expo serves as a premier platform where innovation meets action, bringing together policymakers, investors, and energy experts to explore groundbreaking renewable solutions.
Participants at the event were introduced to the latest advancements in solar hybrid systems, smart grids, energy storage, and efficiency technologies, with a focus on positioning Nigeria as a leader in Africa’s green transition.
Highlighting the partnership’s strategic value, Ituen said EENOVANCE’s expertise in renewable energy infrastructure aligns with Akwa Ibom’s ambition to harness clean technologies for inclusive and sustainable growth.
A key highlight of the event was a presentation by Chuks Mbonodi, EENOVANCE’s Country Manager, titled “From Source to Storage: Highlighting EENOVANCE Advanced Technology in Energy Storage”, which showcased cutting-edge energy storage solutions.
Another presentation, “Akwa Ibom Renewable Energy Grid”, delivered by Dr Essien Udo, President of the Students Representatives Council, African Leadership University, Rwanda, explored opportunities for integrating renewable power into the state’s energy system.
The Expo also featured a panel discussion themed “The Future We Choose: Renewable and Sustainable”, which brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the policy, financing, and technology pathways toward a low-carbon economy.
Ituen emphasised capacity building as a central focus, noting that workshops and expert sessions would equip local entrepreneurs, engineers, and policymakers with the knowledge to drive Nigeria’s green revolution from within.
He further highlighted the economic and environmental benefits of renewable adoption, including job creation, reduced fossil fuel dependence, improved air quality, and rural energy access, in line with Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan targeting net-zero emissions by 2060.
“The Green Energy Expo is not just about envisioning a sustainable future; it’s about building it, one solution at a time”, the organisers said in a joint statement. “Together, we can empower communities, unlock green investments, and transform Nigeria into a renewable energy leader.”
With growing global momentum toward clean energy, stakeholders say the partnership between Ituen and EENOVANCE marks a defining step in positioning Akwa Ibom as a hub for green innovation and sustainable progress in Africa.
