
October 29, (THEWILL) – Unknown assailants have killed a 34-year-old man, Segun Adegbite, at a construction site along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor of Ogun State.
Adegbite was murdered with a machete and his body was found in a pool of blood at the construction site.
Police Public Relations Officer In Ogun State, SP Omololu Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Odutola said that one Mr Adedeji Adegbola came to the police station at Sagamu to report that one of his security personnel, identified as Hasan, informed him about an attack on the victim.
She said that on hearing the information, the police swung into action and visited the scene where they found the lifeless body of the victim in a pool of blood with multiple machete cuts
The Police PRO said, “Today, 28/10/24, at about 12:10 pm, Mr Adedeji Adegbola, residing at Lagos Abeokuta Expressway, Iyana Paja, Lagos State, visited the station to report that on the same day at about 10:00 am, one of his security personnel named Hasan, a local security guard assigned to the construction site near the Witch Tech Factory along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway contacted him.
“Hassan Informed him that an altercation was taking place at the site involving Segun Adegbite, a 34-year-old male from the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, and unknown individuals. Following the reports, detectives hastily arrive at the location only to find Segun’s body lying in a pool of blood with multiple machete wounds on his body” she added
Odutola noted that the exhibit recovered from the scene was a blood-stained machete and the corpse had been deposited at a morgue for autopsy
She added that the security guard at the construction site had fled for safety as his whereabouts remained uncertain
