March 18, (THEWILL) — The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, in observance of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria said the temporary closure is in recognition of the Islamic festival, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Normal consular and embassy services are expected to resume after the holiday period.
The Mission also extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful and communities celebrating across Nigeria and around the world, wishing them a joyful and peaceful Eid al-Fitr celebration.
Eid al-Fitr is one of the most significant religious holidays in Islam, celebrated with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity following a month of fasting.
The Federal Government on Tuesday declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, as public holidays to mark the occasion.
