June 06, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, and his Cross River state counterpart, Gov Bassey Otu, are reportedly in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, in solidarity to the state Governor, Umo Bassey Eno, as he is set to defect from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC), on Friday.
The two governors reportedly arrived at the Hilltop Mansion, the Government House of the State, on Thursday evening, even as they were received by Eno, ahead of his official pronouncement on his defection to the APC.
Confirming the incident through a phone interaction with THEWILL, an aide to the Governor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the video of Gov Uzodinma arriving at the Government House last night was trending on social media, but his mission was yet to be revealed.
“Yes, I have seen the video of Uzodinma as he arrived at Government House last night.
“We are suspecting the governor will pronounce his defection from PDP to APC today. We are watching the developments.”
THEWILL reports that Eno had, in many fora in recent times, mentioned that he is making a progressive movement for the good of the people of Akwa Ibom State, as the state would be well represented at the centre.
Also, on Thursday, during the Town Square meeting in Ikot Abasi Federal constituency, Eno openly told the people that he would progressively move to the centre to align the state with national politics.
Eno’s decision to defect to the ruling party at the national level is received by the people of the state, especially the stakeholders, with mixed reactions.
While most people within and outside his cabinet have already defected as forerunners to prepare ground for him, some have vowed never to defect with him.
