
March 30, (THEWILL) — In a firm and emotional response to the deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has vowed that his administration will not tolerate further acts of violence, promising swift justice and comprehensive support for victims and their families.
Speaking on Monday, he visited the scene of the attack, where he commiserated with bereaved families. The governor described the incident as a cruel and unacceptable assault on innocent lives. He said the state government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
Governor Mutfwang announced that the Plateau State Government would take full responsibility for the medical bills of those injured in the attack and currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state. He also disclosed plans for a dignified and befitting burial for those who lost their lives, stressing that the victims deserve honour even in death.
According to him, the government is already working closely with security agencies to strengthen investigations and improve response mechanisms to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies. He reiterated that the attack represents not only a loss to the affected families but also a painful setback for peace-building efforts in Plateau State.
The Governor further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other community stakeholders to deepen cooperation with the government in addressing the persistent security challenges confronting parts of the state. He emphasised that lasting peace can only be achieved through unity, vigilance, and shared responsibility among all segments of society.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace, strengthening security architecture, and fostering unity across Plateau State, insisting that his government remains determined to rebuild confidence among citizens and ensure that no community is left vulnerable to violent attacks.
