Governors-with-Tinubu

January 01, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has lauded the National Assembly for its unwavering support over the last 19 months, stating that his administration remains resolute in its mission to steer Nigeria toward the Promised Land.

Tinubu made this declaration on Wednesday while receiving Vice President Kashim Shettima, the leadership of the National Assembly, and former principal officers of the legislature at his Oyinkan Abayomi Drive residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The New Year homage, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, followed an earlier visit by members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).

“Nigerians are the heart of everything we are doing. We have come to serve. Your visit has made my day. Happy New Year. May God bless you and our country with more prosperity,” Tinubu said.

“The transformative journey we have embarked upon is for all of us. It is for our tomorrow, for the future generation. Your commitment will bear fruit for the babies yet unborn. Together, we will build a nation we can all be proud of. We are determined, capable, and resolute. With your support, we will take Nigeria to that Promised Land,” he added.

The President also emphasized his administration’s dedication to courageous decision-making, intellectual inquisitiveness, and relentless pursuit of national development.

“We have a saying in Yoruba that it is only a courageous dog that will capture the animal in the bush. We will continue to make bold decisions for the betterment of our country,” Tinubu stated.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended Tinubu for his bold reforms and unwavering commitment to national transformation. He assured the President of the National Assembly’s full backing in achieving the administration’s goals.

“On this journey of restoration, transformation, and rebuilding the nation, you are not alone. The National Assembly is with you and will stand by you,” Akpabio said.

He also highlighted the administration’s achievements, including the oversubscription of Nigeria’s Eurobond, improvements in ease of doing business, and increased foreign investor confidence.

“We salute our men in uniform and commend you for your bold reforms. Investors remain interested in Nigeria because of your leadership, and we will continue to reap the benefits,” Akpabio added.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, praised Tinubu for his respect and support for the National Assembly. He noted the unique composition of the administration, with many key figures, including the President, Vice President, and other top officials, being former members of the legislature.

“The National Assembly today is more united and fulfilled than ever. Mr. President, every request we’ve made for the National Assembly has been granted. This is historic and commendable,” Abbas said.

He also acknowledged the administration’s efforts to alleviate hardship and improve the lives of Nigerians.

“Nigerians faced significant challenges at the start of 2023, but as the year progressed, more food and prosperity began pouring in. We believe 2025 will be the ultimate year where every Nigerian will be proud of this administration,” he concluded.

With the firm support of the National Assembly, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises and fostering sustainable development for the nation.
