May 05, (THEWILL) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of popular social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), following multiple petitions filed against him.
THEWILL earlier reported that VDM was picked up by EFCC operatives on Friday shortly after visiting a GTBank branch in Area 3, Garki, Abuja.
Speaking to BBC News on Monday, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said the commission arrested the activist over allegations bordering on cyberstalking.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale stated.
He added that the petitions were filed by multiple individuals and that the Commission has a responsibility to act on such complaints.
“The EFCC is planning to arraign him. He will be released once he meets his bail conditions. We are law-abiding and will follow due process,” Oyewale said.
