April 08, (THEWILL) – On Monday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, organised a dinner for the suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly in the United Kingdom.
The Minister departed Nigeria Sunday night after spending time with his political allies and associates in Port Harcourt.
Lere Olayinka, the senior special assistant on public communications and social media to the minister, confirmed that the suspended lawmakers are in the UK for legislative capacity building.
THEWILL reports that the only lawmakers on the five-day tour of the UK are those loyal to the FCT minister, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.
Martins Wachukwu, special assistant on media to Amaewhule, said the tour aims to enhance the lawmakers’ legislative skills.
President Bola Tinubu had, on March 18th, declared a State of Emergency in Rivers, suspending the executive and legislature and appointing Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, as administrator in charge of the State for an initial period of six months.
