According to the World Bank, the programme is expected to improve workforce competence by standardising professional practices and setting clear benchmarks for performance.

It added that the certification framework could help boost public confidence in certified institutions while also enhancing Nigeria’s attractiveness to local and foreign investors by providing assurances around quality, compliance, and governance standards.

Officials involved in implementing the programme welcomed the endorsement, noting that it underscores the progress achieved through sustained collaboration with development partners and domestic stakeholders.

They said the initiative would be expanded nationwide in phases, with deliberate efforts to ensure inclusivity, affordability, and long-term sustainability.

The World Bank reaffirmed its support for the certification programme, pledging continued technical assistance, capacity-building support, and policy guidance to help entrench the framework and ensure it delivers lasting impact in strengthening institutions and driving broader economic reforms.
